Latrigg and Brundholme 2016 |
The walk started from the car park by the old Keswick railway station at 10:20. It was just a short walk to join the Cumbria Way at Spooney Green Lane and the first photograph was taken before reaching the bridge over the A66 trunk road.
Further photographs were taken as I climbed higher towards the Latrigg car park. Just after the horse and rider passed, I took the path towards the summit that led back in the general direction of Keswick giving a fine view towards Braithwaite. |

Blease Fell as seen from Brundholme |
I reached the summit of Latrigg (367m) at 11:45 and continued on in an easterly direction. Brundholme is quite close to the western end of Blencathra, which is called Blease Fell.
I walked past Brundholme itself and right down to the disused railway line but the footpath was closed, as expected. Recent floods had destroyed some of the bridges. I climbed back up almost to Brundholme before taking a path through Brundholme Woods. |
Track through Brundholme Woods |
The track through Brundholme Woods continued to cross the A66 trunk road a little to the east of Spooney Green Lane but I was soon back at the old railway station.
The complete walk took about three hours. |
